Dealing with Betrayal

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

When someone has betrayed you and has broken a solemn trust, it’s very hard to get over.

It can also work the other way, how do you get over betraying someone, how do you deal with yourself?

Let me start with a confession. There was a time in my life when all that I had done for 16 years fell apart. The ministry and work I had done was all taken away and I was on my own with a wife, 3 young children and my In-laws to take care of. I definitely felt betrayed by God and I told Him so.

Now most people are shocked when they hear that and say, Oh, I could never talk to God like that . Well, if you have ever read any thing I have written, you know the one thing I ask you to do is think!

So think about it, if I am thinking that God betrayed me He already knows it, so me saying it is no worse. But somehow people want to clean up their talk when speaking to God and be all respectful when in their heart they are mad and upset.

Yes, I felt betrayed by God and I told Him, that doesn’t mean it was true, but that’s the way I felt. I had hit a wall and it looked as though there was no way out. I was mad, upset and had to have someone to blame.

There was another time when my wife got cancer and once again I felt betrayed by God. These were very difficult times for me and I thought God had let me down.

Later searching for more answers I started to wonder if I had betrayed God, that’s what everyone wanted to tell me. People who didn’t like my thoughts on God wanting me to prosper and didn’t like what I was saying about the Laws God put in creation for us to use, these people accused me of betraying God.

Now, I had to work though all that and I did. God was kind enough to put up with my struggle so I could figure it out. But so many people are still mad at God for one thing or another or afraid of God because of something they have or have not done-this is where I come in.

I want to show you that God has not betrayed anyone and that our desire to prosper and live abundantly in no way betrays our life with Him. Maybe this isn’t an issue with you and if so that’s great, but I know a lot people still holding a grudge either openly or secretly about past events. I want to help heal that and open doors for everyone to enjoy the life God has given us.

I want to show you that it is the goodness of God that brings people to Him and that God really does want to do all that He can to help us success and have a wonderful life.

Romans 2:4 says that it is the goodness of God that leads men to repentence. Repentence means a change of heart . God is not a fire escape from hell and He doesn’t want us to come to Him out of fear.

God is love and it is His goodness and love that draws us to Him. He will never betray us, even if that’s how it feels, God would not do that. So focus on His goodness and love in your life and whatever happened will fade away.

The Benefits of Using Gas Credit Cards

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Time is a luxury that most people do not have. Time is a valuable commodity, especially for busy men such as myself. I am a salesman and I often have to visit a lot of places in order to reach my quotas. Fortunately for me, there are things such as gas credit cards that make it convenient and less costly for me to refuel.

If you are not familiar with this type of credit card I suggest that you check out cyberspace to get information about them. The Internet can also give you sites that will aid you in finding offers from various gas companies like Conoco, Hess, Marathon, Citgo and Phillips 66. You will also find gas credit cards that can be used to buy gas from any gas station.

Gas credit cards offer different types of promotions and rebates to catch the attention of car owners throughout the country. Marathon gas credit cards offer a 10% rebate on Marathon Midwest and Southeast gas stations, for the opening sixty days. After that period, you’ll realize a continuous 5% rebate.

This gas credit card will not charge you an annual fee for the first year. In addition, if you use this credit card for nine purchases for the year, you will not be obligated to pay the usual $90 yearly fee for the following year. The rate on this card might be as low as 13.99% depending on your credit. You will enjoy no fee and zero percent APR on any balance transfers.

Hess gas credit cards on the other hand, offer you promotions for free gas and merchandise at all Hess, Hess Express and Wilco Hess location. You will earn a 10% rebate during the ninety day introductory period. After which you will net a 5% rebate for every Hess purchase while purchases from other gas stations will give you a 1% rebate. If choose to get the Hess platinum gas credit cards, your preliminary APR is zero balance and can last up to six months. You will not be charged for any yearly fee with this credit card.

Chase PerfectCard is also one of the gas credit cards that are featured on the World-Wide -Web. It offers a rebate of 6% for the preliminary ninety days, which is good on any gas purchase. Once this ninety day period ends, you will enjoy a one percent rebate on whatever you procure at restaurants, clothing retailers, and grocery stores. You will also earn a 3 % rebate at all gas station purchases after the introductory period.

Your APR is also fixed at zero percent on any balance you transfer to the cards for as long as nine months. Depending on your credit card, you can earn a rate under 14% and will not be charged for any annual fee. You can choose to waive this annual fee by making a minimum of nine purchasers for the year.

Go Ahead and Laugh…

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Go ahead and laugh that we cling to our religious faith and proudly display religious items throughout our home.

Go ahead and laugh when you say that we don’t seem to live in the ‘real’ world because things aren’t done that way anymore.

Go ahead and laugh as you say, yes it’s good to be religious but my family seems fanatical and a little weird.

Go ahead and laugh as you say just how uncomfortable you are around us because you fear that you might slip up and cuss.

Go ahead and laugh at how strange it is that my wife and I would rather spend time together, instead of with others.

Go ahead and laugh as you declare just how ‘lucky’ we must have been to make it through the tough times and to avoid divorce.

Go ahead and laugh as you say how easy it is to loath my children because they always seem to do just the ‘right thing’.

Go ahead and laugh that my children appear to be happy and they have happy friends-no gloom and doom or dark clouds overhead.

Go ahead and laugh when our children dress up not as demons but rather as Biblical characters for halloween.

Go ahead and laugh at the fact that we have a sacred area of our home that we call our prayer closet.

Go ahead and laugh as you come up with excuses for not having family devotions and prayers together every night.

Go ahead and laugh and say just how silly we look while dinning out, because we pause to say grace aloud and together.

Go ahead and laugh because we strive to have a sit-down, around the table, family meal at least four nights a week.

Go ahead and laugh because we believe that ‘our way’ provides the very comfort and security that children need and want.

Go ahead and laugh because we claim to have discovered the true secret to happiness, and it’s called being a Christian.

Go ahead and laugh because being a Christian isn’t about what we do or don’t do but rather about what Jesus has done for us.

Go ahead and laugh we will still pray that you will want to join in with us someday soon.

Go ahead and laugh for we will worship the Lord our God; because in Him we have all and are in need of nothing.

Go ahead and laugh and say that you think that ‘all this’ is okay for my family, but it wouldn’t work for your family.

Go ahead and laugh it’s okay because we believe that someday soon you will wish for your family to be as ours.

Go ahead and laugh my friend, for laughter is all you may have.

Kashmir Terrorism: Origin and Growth

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Broadly speaking, when justice and right are denied to a person over a longer period of time, the person is left with two options: bear the situation patiently, or the reaction is anguish, and that reaction, in the process culminates into terrorism. Besides other things, spreading of communal hatred, religious frenzy, separatist tendency etc. are the tools which terrorists generally use. Guns too are used to achieve the so-called specified mission. Fanaticism, extremism, radicalism, separatism, militancy, activism etc. are its other names or manifestations. This is one side of the picture of terrorism. (Terrorists fighting for a genuine cause i.e. liberating themselves, their society/country from the oppressor/ perpetrator). Another side of the picture is disgusting and questionable. Over the years terrorism has emerged as a systematic use or threatened use of violence to intimidate a population, community or government and thereby effect political, religious or ideological change just to achieve personal gains. Modern terrorism has resorted to other option of intimidation, i.e. influence the mass media, in an effort to amplify and broadcast feelings of intense fear and anger among the people. Needless to mention here that acts of terror are carried out by people who are indoctrinated to the extent of following a strategy of dying to kill. They are the ones who have become pawns in the hands of their masters who direct their paths, sitting in the comforts of far off places with all the facilities available to them. Masters have their vested political interests while as pawns seemingly have nothing to gain except suffer for a cause about which they themselves don’t know or know very little.

Terrorism in Kashmir is almost 18 years old now and has likeness to the second side of the picture. It has a history long enough to be traced from the date when partition was forced resulting in the emergence of two nations- India and Pakistan- after the sub-continent freed itself from the colonial rule of the British Empire. It may not be out of context here to probe into the consequences in detail that gave rise to terrorism in Kashmir. But again, before that, giving a brief introduction of this widely known beautiful valley would be too apt.

Kashmir-Paradise on Earth-(Switzerland of Asia) Nature’s grand finale of beauty is a masterpiece of earth’s creation of charm and loveliness. Famous for its beauty and natural scenery throughout the world and for its high snow-clad mountains, scenic spots, beautiful valleys, rivers with ice-cold water, attractive lakes and springs and ever-green fields, dense forests and beautiful health resorts, enhance its grandeur and are a source of great attraction for tourists. It is also widely known for its different kinds of agricultural products, fruit, vegetables, saffron, herbs, and minerals, precious stones handicrafts like woollen carpets, shawls and finest kind of embroidery on clothes. During summer, one can enjoy the beauty of nature, trout fishing, big and small game hunting etc.; during winter climbing mountain peaks and sports like skating and skiing on snow slopes are commonly enjoyed. In addition to the above, Pilgrimage to famous religious shrines of the Hindus and the Muslims make Kashmir a great tourist attraction. About Kashmir Sheikh Sadie a great Persian poet is believed to have said, “If there is any heaven on earth, it is here in Kashmir, in Kashmir in Kashmir only.”

Apart from natural beauty, Jammu and Kashmir has a unique cultural blend which makes it different from the rest of the country (India). It is not only distinct in cultural forms and heritage, but in geographical, demographical, ethnical, social entities, forming a distinct spectrum of diversity. The people of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, all follow diverse religion, language and culture, but continuously intermingling which symbolizes Indian Unity amidst diversity. Its different cultural forms like art and architecture, fair and festivals, rites and rituals, seers and sagas, languages and literatures, embedded in ageless period of history, speak of endless unity and diversity with unparalleled cultural cohesion and amicability. Kashmir has been a great centre of learning. A treasure of rich Sanskrit literature is to be found here. Early Indo-Aryanic civilization has originated and flourished in this land. It has also been embracing point of advent of Islam bringing its traditions of Persian civilization, tolerance, brotherhood and sacrifice.

After the British withdrew from the Indian subcontinent in 1947 and India and Pakistan emerged as two separate countries, princely states were given an option to choose the country they wanted to stay on. Obviously, the states falling geographically within had no other option but to merge with the country they were situated. Border states like Kashmir, Jodhpur etc. took time to come out with their firm decisions probably because they wanted to enjoy the status of an independent Statehood. In the case of Kashmir, where Maharaja (King) Hari Singh was the ruler, situation worsened considerably. Territorial disputes over Kashmir had already started brewing-Pakistan claiming that Kashmir should go to his side since Muslims were in majority there. Apprehending that Maharaja might opt for an accession to India, Pakistan prepared for an aggression in a bid to capture the State forcibly hoping that masses, mainly Muslims, would support its mission but that didn’t happen. Secular forces headed by the then popular mass leader Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah fondly known as Sher-i-Kashmir motivated the Kashmiri people (Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs) to rise to the occasion and stand united to counter and frustrate the evil designs of the enemy who was marching to the capital city Srinagar indulging in bloodshed and mayhem. A new slogan echoed the entire valley: “Hamlavar khabardaar, hum Kashmiri hai tayaar—Hindu Muslim Sikh Ithaad, Naya Kashmir Zindabaad—” Beware you attackers! We Kashmiris are ready to counter you-Long live the Unity of Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs-!!— At Hazuri Bagh, Srinagar before a large crowd on October 1, 1947, Sher-i-Kashmir proclaimed :”Till the last drop of my blood, I will not believe in two-nation theory.” It was a rebuff to Mr. Jinnah-father of the nation of Pakistan- who was watching the developments so closely from his country side. Finding their designs on Kashmir not fructifying, Pakistan rulers launched an armed attack on Jammu and Kashmir to annex it. Tribes in thousands along with Pak regular troops entered the State on October 22, 1947 from several points and indulged in loot, arson, rape, bloodshed and mayhem. Bowing before the wishes of the people and seeing his own regular army being out-numbered and to push back the invaders, the Maharaja signed the Instrument of Accession in favour of India on October 26, 1947 on the prescribed terms and conditions. This was accepted by the Governor General of India, Lord Mountbatten the next day. The Instrument of Accession executed by Maharaja Hari Singh was the same which was signed by other rulers of the other princely States. Similarly, the acceptance of the Instrument of Accession by the Governor General was also identical in respect of all such instruments.

With J&K becoming legal and constitutional part of Union of India, Indian army rushed to the State to push back the invaders and vacate aggression from the territory of the State. The first batch of Indian Army troops arrived at Srinagar airport immediately after the Accession was signed. On October 30, 1947 an Emergency Government was formed in the State with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as its head. The Army fought sustained battle with the tribals/Kabayilies and after several sacrifices pushed them out of the Valley and other areas in the Jammu region. (Earlier Brigadier Rajendra Singh Chief of State Forces with a small number of soldiers at his disposal fought valiantly with the enemy and laid down his life in the process.)

Meanwhile, the people of Kashmir under the towering leadership of Sher-I-Kashmir were mobilised and they resisted the marching columns of the enemy. Till the arrival of India troops, it was mainly the Muslim volunteers under the command of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who braved death to push back invaders. While the army pushed back the invaders, there were several instances where people put up a gallant resistance and stopped the advancing invaders. The most glaring examples of people’s resistance were the martyrdom of Mohammad Maqbool Sherwani and Master Abdul Aziz both staunch followers of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Abdullah. Sherwani did not oblige the invaders when they enquired from him the route to Srinagar. Instead, he put them on a wrong track gaining time for troops to reach Srinagar from New Delhi. Somehow the tribesmen came to know about his tactics and nailed him at a Baramulla crossing and asked him to raise pro-Pakistan slogans. He did raise slogans but these were different. These were pro-Hindu-Muslim unity and in favour of Sher-i-Kashmir. Enraged by this, the ruthless tribesmen emptied their guns on him. The sacrifice of Master Abdul Aziz too was exemplary. The invaders who raped the nuns and wanted other non-Muslim women to be handed over to them, Master Abdul Aziz, a tailor by profession, held the holy Quran in his hand and said that they can touch the women only after they pass over his dead body and the holy Quran. The brutal killers did not spare him either.

On January 1, 1948 India took up the issue of Pak aggression in Jammu and Kashmir to UNO under Article 35 of its Charter. The Government of India in its letter to the Security Council said, “…Such a situation now exists between India and Pakistan owing to the aid which invaders, consisting of nationals of Pakistan and tribesmen… are drawing from Pakistan for operations against Jammu and Kashmir, a State which has acceded legally to the Dominion of India and is part of India. The Government of India requests the Security Council to call upon Pakistan to put an end immediately to the giving of such assistance which is an act of aggression against India. If Pakistan does not do so, the Government of India may be compelled, in self defense, to enter into Pakistan territory to take military action against the invaders.” After long debates, cease-fire came into operation on the midnight of January 1, 1949. Eventually, India filed a complaint with the UN Security Council, which established the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP). Pakistan was accused of invading the region, and was asked to withdraw its forces from Jammu & Kashmir. The UNCIP also passed a resolution stating: “The question of accession of the state of Jammu & Kashmir to India or Pakistan will be decided through the democratic method of free and impartial plebiscite”. However, this could not take place because Pakistan did not comply with the UN resolution and refused to withdraw from the State. The international community failed to play a decisive role in the matter saying that Jammu & Kashmir is a “disputed territory”. In 1949, with the intervention of the United Nations, India and Pakistan defined a ceasefire line (”Line of Control”) that divided the two countries. This has left Kashmir a divided and disturbed territory up till now.

In September 1951, free and fair elections, as per the Constitutional modalities, were held in Jammu & Kashmir, and National Conference party under the leadership of Sheikh Abdullah came into power. With the advent of the Constituent Assembly of the State of Jammu & Kashmir representing the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the State became an integral part of India constitutionally. After Sheikh Abdullah; Bakshi Gulam Mohamad, G.M.Sadiq, Mir Qasim,Gul Shah,Mufti Sayed and Dr.Farooq Abdullah ruled the State as Chief Ministers. Mr.Gulam Nabi Azad is the current Chief Minister of the J&K State.

Though the governments ran smoothly over the years, continued instigations and arousing religious frenzy by Pakistan did not stop. The year 1965 saw a war between India and Pakistan claiming so many lives on either side. A cease-fire was established and the two countries signed an agreement at Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 1966, pledging to end the dispute by peaceful means. Five years later, the two again went to war that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. Another accord was signed in 1972 between the two Prime Ministers - Indira Gandhi and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto - in Simla. After Bhutto was executed in 1979, the Kashmir issue once again flared up.

During the 1980s, massive infiltrations from Pakistan were detected in the region, and India has since then maintained a strong military presence in Jammu & Kashmir to check these movements along the cease-fire line. India says that Pakistan has been stirring up violence in its part of Kashmir by training and funding “Islamic guerrillas” that have waged a separatist war since 1989 killing tens of thousands of people. Pakistan has always denied the charge, calling it an indigenous “freedom struggle.”

In 1999, intense fighting ensued between the infiltrators and the Indian army in the Kargil area of the western part of the state, which lasted for more than two months. The battle ended with India managing to reclaim most of the area on its side that had been seized by the infiltrators.

In 2001, Pakistan-backed terrorists waged violent attacks on the Kashmir Assembly and the Indian Parliament in New Delhi. This has resulted in a war-like situation between the two countries, with Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf asking his army to be “fully prepared and capable of defeating all challenges,” and the then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying, “We don’t want war but war is being thrust upon us, and we will have to face it.”

Plight of Pandits (Hindus)

The Pandits, who are the Hindu community of Kashmir and have an ancient and a proud culture, have been amongst the most afflicted victims of the Pakistani-supported campaign of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.. Their roots in the Kashmir Valley run very deep. They are the original inhabitants of this beautiful valley. Their number being small and peace-loving by nature, they have been the soft targets of terrorists. Virtually the entire population of 300,000 Kashmiri Pandits have been forced to leave their ancestral homes and property. Threatened with violence and intimidation by Muslim fundamentalists, they have been turned into refugees in their own country leaving behind their shops ,farms, cattle and age-old memories. .As a matter of fact, Jammu and Kashmir has become a target of Pakistan, sponsored by religion-based terrorism. The persecution by Muslim extremists of the Hindu minority and the systematic religion-based extremism of terrorist elements has resulted in the exodus of these Hindu/Pandits and other minorities from the Kashmir Valley to other parts of India. Fundamentalists and terrorists have also targeted and assassinated Muslim intellectuals and liberal Muslim leaders too, who spoke of Hindu-Muslim unity and brotherhood. Terrorist acts by Kashmiri militant groups have also taken place outside Jammu and Kashmir.

India claims most of the separatist militant groups are based in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (also known as Azad Kashmir). Some like the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF), demand an independent Kashmir. Other groups such as Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed favour a Pakistani-Kashmir. Of the larger militant groups, the Hizbul Mujahideen, a militant organisation is based in Pakistan administered Kashmir. Sources reveal that Al-Qaeda too has a base in Pakistani Kashmir and helping to forment terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

India is unwilling to lose even one additional inch of his land. New Delhi is also concerned that Kashmiri autonomy would set a precedent for breakaway movements in other Indian states (e.g., Punjab or Assam). To Pakistan, Kashmir is symbolic of its national ethos and commitment to protect Muslim interests against Indian encroachment. It believes that the creation of a separate, strongly sectarian nation is incomplete without contiguous Kashmir .In brief, Kashmir is a target of externally sponsored religion-based terrorism. The aim is to divide people on the basis of sectarian affiliation and undermine/weaken the secular fabric and territorial integrity of India.

However, as and now with the passage of time, the passion of the Jehad/movement which once had the mass public support has started declining since it has turned out to be a movement run by those who are more interested in their own personal gains. Confusion within the separatist groups too has weakened the movement. The hard liners led by Jamat-e-Islami advocate total merger of Jammu and Kashmir, with Pakistan whereas the soft liners led by J.K.L.F (Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front) stands for total independence of J&K. This has given rise to a totally confusing and conflicting situation resulting in disillusionment, disarray and disinterest of the common man in Kashmir who has suffered a lot for the past 18 years and is not prepared to suffer any more.

Finance Your Education with Nursing School Loans

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Do not let financial setbacks hinder you to pursue your dream to study nursing. There are many nursing school loans available whether you are a graduating high school student who would like to start a nursing career or someone who is advancing your nursing education. There are nursing loans available even for those pursuing a Masters or Doctoral degree.

Every nursing school offers some type of financial service to their students. Many schools form partnerships with private financial institutions and participate in government-funded student loans to be able to grant nursing school loans. Ask the college or university where you intend to enroll about their nursing school loans programs and application requirements.

Many hospitals also offer nursing school loans and scholarships with the agreement that after graduation the student will serve in the institution for a specific period. Financial assistance is also available to individuals already employed in the hospital such as Licensed Practical Nurses who wish to further their education and become registered nurses.

Possibly the best source of nursing school loans is the government. The US Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid has different loan programs that allow undergraduate and graduate students and even parents to secure educational funding directly from the government. These loans include Federal Stafford Loans, which are for students and Direct PLUS loans for parents of dependent undergraduates.

Private lenders also offer nursing school loans funded by the federal government through the Federal Family Education Loan Program or FFEL. Nursing schools that participate in the Federal Perkins Loans Program also offer students in great financial need with government-funded low-interest loans. In this program, the student borrower makes payments to the school.

In addition, the US Public Health Department offers grants and nursing school loans forgiveness programs to students in exchange for their service in remote or under-served locations after they graduate.

As you can see, there are many sources of nursing school loans. The best place to start looking is in your community and your local state. The Internet is a useful tool to help you in your search. There are even websites that can match you with a financial aid provider. Sometimes, you will need to obtain more than one loan to cover your total educational costs. The key here is persistence in researching and applying for these opportunities. Lastly, remember that a loan is borrowed money so you would want to make sure that you would be able to keep your end of the bargain.

E-coupons

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Online coupons, often called e-coupons, are offered by both online and offline stores. For online stores, e-coupons provide discounts to customers who buy product contained in the Web site. Offline stores, on the other hand, utilize printable e-coupons for use at the real-world stores. These e-coupons must be printed by the customer and then physically brought to the store.

E-coupons provide several advantages for both the buyer and seller. Since customers rarely tend to use e-coupons unless the merchandise is needed, it is generally not necessary for sellers to advertise coupons in newspapers and magazines. Typically the demand for these products is not constant and customers tend to look for e-coupons only when they need to purchase the product. From the seller’s perspective, e-coupons serve as near-permanent advertisements for their products. Since they are not subject to publishing schedules or costs, and are easily changed as needed, e-coupons represent a low-cost and highly flexible solution for businesses. E-coupons can be offered around the clock, every single day for as long as desired. It’s also possible for sellers to offer their e-coupons to a specific target market. The customer’s online contact details like email or Web sites can be used to send the offer. Since, like ordinary published coupons, e-coupons have an expiry date the business can set those dates such that there is no pressure to honor all the e-coupons.

A bit advantage to buying from an online store using e-coupons is that the customer can dispense with the hassle of clipping and saving coupons. All that is required now is a simple click of the mouse on the e-coupons section of the Web site.

E-coupons are a great way for sellers to do business on the Internet, promote their products and generate demand for them. It can help businesses keep their Web sites and offline shops supplied with a steady flow of online customers. Many businesses offer e-coupons on a daily basis through their Web sites. Businesses in this case will offer discounts through e-coupons on different products each day. E-coupons also serve to increase the number of new customers coming to offline stores with printed coupons to redeem the discount on products. Seasonal e-coupons, offered at times such as Christmas or Halloween, are also quite common. E-coupons are offered on virtually every imaginable item, including those that people use daily such as toiletries, groceries and household products.

E-coupons help advertise the products of a business online. They represent a powerful marketing venue to help businesses use the Internet to increase their sales by reaching a wider range of customers.

Internet Marketing In South Africa

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Part 1

This article is written from my own experiences, on the many problems facing South African based internet marketers. As a South African, myself, I have been trying to establish myself in internet marketing, for the last three years, but have come across a number of obstacles, which have proved seriously detrimental to my efforts. If you are South African, you can probably relate to this. If you have been battling what seem insurmountable odds, or if you are new to this concept, the message is the same. Stop wasting your time and your money on what is bound to be nothing less than - wasting your time and your money and I will explain why I said that. If you are an internet marketer, who is not South African, you should also read this article, because you are, unwittingly, leaving a lot of money on the table.

As we all know, South Africa is a part of Africa and is unfairly considered as a third world country, with the incorrect perception that this second largest continent, is nothing more than a waste of time, in the field of internet marketing. Well, I beg to differ. I will attempt to outline some of the misconceptions, obstacles, causes and remedies that I have encountered.

Yes, it is true that Africa has not progressed as much as the so called first world countries, but it is taking giant strides towards that. The advent of the internet, is only just beginning to catch on and the vast majority of the population, still have no access at all, but it is coming and it is coming fast. The internet is now available in all countries around the world and Africa is no different. We all know about the Nigerian internet scams. It is just that the vast majority of the population are poverty stricken and cannot afford the service, many are illiterate and the majority of the continent consists of large open spaces and small villages, making the physical provision of any basic services such as electricity, clean water, telephones and other communication devices extremely difficult. It is also an ongoing problem, where these desperate people steal cables and anything that can be traded for a meal. So, at this stage the internet is only available in the bigger metropolitan areas. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Imagine how easy it is to supply services to a very densely populated area like England and where everyone is literate, in a fixed abode and living above the poverty line.

South Africa is the most technically advanced country in Africa and not far behind the standards of the other technology rich countries, but we are seriously lacking in internet technology. The internet is still very new to South Africa and has only just begun to catch on. It is experiencing a phenomenal growth rate and more and more businesses and individuals are hooking up . All of the major cities are able to offer various means of connection such as ADSL, bluetooth, wireless and people are getting connected on their pcs, laptops and cellphones. The rural areas are battling to get connected and the only option available to them at this stage is the old antiquated dial up system using a telephone line, or via satellite. Promises have been made by government, that in a few years, everyone will be able to get a telephone and therefore, will have internet access available to them. This represents an enormous potential for wary marketers.

This is the overview of the situation with internet access in Africa and more particularly, South Africa. In the next article, we will look at some of the problems faced by South African users and the effects they have on internet marketing.

Part 2

Recent political changes, have reversed the fortunes of the South African population, in that the previously disadvantaged black community, now have money and the fine things in life, including access to the internet. Whereas before they wouldn’t have been considered a viable market, they are now able to access the internet and dabble in small business. They want more. The whites, on the other hand, now find themselves out of work, unsure of the future and desperately seeking an alternative means of income. Both groups make good target markets, and both are particularly keen on using the internet to improve their lot in life. Remember, the internet is the biggest employer in the world and does not recognise age, colour, education, physical disabilities, wealth etc. People hear of the successes achieved on the internet and are fooled into looking for a quick fix. The internet and marketing via this medium, gives everyone an equal opportunity, well, almost everyone. Not South Africans, unfortunately.

Something like 70% of the S.A internet community, access the internet on the computers at their places of employment and as much as two hours each workday, is lost to private usage of the internet. Obviously these people are not all looking for ways to make money, but a large percentage are. These people who are newly exposed to all the hype on the internet are easily sucked in to believing the sales pitch. A lot of money is being spent on all sorts of junk and causing many heartbroken families. I was like that too. I firmly believed I could make a lot of money on the internet and set about joining all sorts of schemes. They do not work, but these desperate and na?ve people don’t know that. Imagine if it was possible to guide them, to channel all that energy and curiosity and of course all that money into your bank account? If those people all trusted you and listened to your advice, if you were able to develop well thought out plans and business opportunities? If those people all joined your membership site?

One of the biggest drawbacks in S.A is that the internet and allied services are still very expensive and difficulty in finding a good service provider. Other first world countries have direct, fast, unlimited service at very reasonable prices and if they do experience problems with the service provider, there are plenty of others to try. According to a recent survey, something like 70% of all internet users, regularly access the ‘net from their places of employment. The employer provides pcs and internet for business purposes and these curious people cheat their employers, by using his service for private usage. People send emails to friends, go shopping, download files, look at pornography, play games, gamble and read classifieds and other adverts for a better job, or an easy method of earning more money. From this survey it was estimated that as much as 85% of this target group were looking for self employment opportunities. Now, that’s a lot of people! If the price of internet access was cheaper, all these people would use it at home. In fact, most do have internet access at home, but due to small caps on their usage and exorbitant prices, they rather use the employer’s service. My point is that millions are searching for opportunities on the internet and the fact that crime is rampant only makes them more determined, to start a business from home. This is a huge potential for marketers. So what is the problem? Why are more South Africans actively getting involved? In the next article, we will start looking at these problem areas.

Part 3

As the internet is still relatively new to South Africa, we don’t have many experts, or experience in the field. Those calling themselves experts, have only a limited knowledge and are far too expensive, when compared to overseas competitors. Simple things like service provision, web hosting, design and site building, software, tools, optimisation and advertising, are grossly overpriced. In most cases, they are bought overseas and resold here. I was given a quote, last month, of R120 ($17) per month, for basic, small webhosting service, excluding the domain registration and excluding the internet service provision. That was only the hosting! I was quoted R6000 ($857) for a designer, to look at one of my websites and to make a couple of small changes. It is crazy. We pay between R8 and R12 for an mp3 song, which costs from 10c to 90c in the U.S.A.

The state owned telecommunications company, Telkom, have the monopoly and squash all opposition. This has led to very highly priced access and an indifferent service. Nearly all packages offered by them, or sub contactor service providers, are restricted and capped. The actual service, the technical help and the customer relations are dreadful. The dial up service is very unreliable, the speeds are far lower than advertised, due to the poor state of the physical ‘phone lines and the modems cost the earth. Take the U.S.A for example, where there are something like 800 million people with regular access and hundreds of competitors all offering better prices. The internet is a way of life and the huge speeds and download capabilities are taken for granted. In South Africa only something like 27 million have any form of access, largely due to the high costs. I got a quote from Telkom last week for satellite service. The basic installation cost is R3100 ($443), paid upfront. The monthly rental for the satellite service, capped at 3 Gigs, is R1263 ($180) and I still need a service provider who comes in at a basic charge of R284 ($40) plus consumption and of course I still need to keep my basic phone service for R110 ($16) plus call usage. Once the cap is reached, the service is suspended and additional packages can be purchased for R120 ($17) per 250 Megs. So in all it will cost me, monthly, around R2317 ($331) for a basic internet service of 4Gigs and a phone at home. Obviously there are cheaper options available in the cities, but living out of town, there is no choice. By the way, a friend living in the U.S.A got a similar quote for only $40 (R280) per month and his service boasted more facilities and no capping whatsoever.

For some reason, probably the old apartheid days, South Africa was boycotted by the wealthy first world countries and nobody has told them yet, that times have changed. South Africans suffer many discriminatory obstacles in the use of the internet and over the last few years, I have repeatedly been stumped by these. I have two messages of advice here. To the frustrated, aspirant South African marketers and those who will follow shortly, stop and listen. Do not waste more time and money trying all sorts of offers, you will not succeed. Rather use the time to brush up on your skills. Select a market niche and learn to use control panel, FTP, html, php, hyperlinks and all the other things, that will help you to run your business. Wait for the solution. I have enlisted the help of two of the world’s top marketers to find a way around the problems, for you. To the marketers who are knowingly, or unknowingly discriminating against certain countries, you are leaving money on the table and missing out on a huge potential market. But, that’s okay, I’ll take it. These are some of the more general problems experienced by South Africans. In the next article, we will look at some of the specific problems affecting our marketing abilities.

Part 4

By now, you are probably wondering what other problems I’m talking about and how they are affecting our chances of success. If you have been involved for a while, you have probably encountered a few of these yourself and if you are a newbie, you are likely to still come across these problems soon.

There are obvious generalities that exclude South Africans from participating. We joined about 163 survey companies, when we first started out on the internet. We soon found out that most were American companies and only for Americans. That makes sense, when the product, or service being rated is only available there, but why do they mislead us and take our money. You must have seen the misleading ads about how quick and easy it is to earn money by doing simple surveys. A lot of them claim to be international, for anybody who understands English. The same thing happens. You are invited to do the survey, but as soon as you type in your address, you are told it is not available in your area. We wasted a lot of money on these. The foolproof unconditional money back guarantees are a lot of hogwash. Just ignore them.

The same thing happened with the typing services. My wife joined a few of them, with the promise, that as long as she had a basic working knowledge of English, no experience was necessary. Money as easy and fast to earn, on simple assignments. Well, she wasn’t given any assignments and on enquiring as to the reason, she was told that we spell differently. That was not ever mentioned at the time of joining and was also money wasted. For Pete’s sake, we speak and spell correctly. It is the Americans who changed the language.

We also joined a lot of companies who promised to pay us for surfing and reading emails. We worked our butts off and eventually, after almost a year, had earned a whopping $247000! We tried to cash in, but were then told that no cheques could be issued. Monies were only paid into American bank accounts. They said they were an international company and anyone in the world could join. But, not get paid.

We often see special promos on free hosting, free domain registration and other all too important services. All looks great from the outside, but as soon as we apply we find out that we are unfortunately not eligible. I don’t know how many times I have won prizes. Cash, free products, a trip, ocean cruises, but on trying to claim them, I’m told they don’t apply to South Africans.

Very often, freebies are included to sweeten a deal. I joined a music site for mp3 downloads. The price was inclusive of a whole bunch of bonuses. I was to get meal tickets, petrol (gas) coupons, membership of some or other club, discounts on shopping, blah, blah, blah. Needles to say, I joined and paid full price, but never got any of the goodies that all my American counterparts received. I am very into music and 2 years ago I purchased Music Match Jukebox, with free updates for life, access to the online music shop and full usage of something I think was called Radio Gold. It was full access to 150 live radio stations. After I received my purchase, all I had was the jukebox and the promise of updates. On enquiry, I was told Sorry, but this offer doesn’t apply to you , but I paid the full price. Why don’t they tell us before we pay? Why don’t we get a discount? This seems to be common practice and apart from the obvious discrimination and disappointment is false advertising.

Anyway, these are some problems I have experienced, but not really connected in any way to our functionality at internet marketing. What are the problems facing South African marketers? More in the next article.

Part 5

We have covered quite a few problems facing South Africans already and here are some more.

Overseas companies, particularly those in the U.S.A, offering opportunities, services and resources, usually require a fixed email address, at the time of joining. This is to prevent temporary accounts and others such as Hotmail, from being used, as it is very easy to cancel, or change, after joining and the marketer is left with a useless address, in his contact list. South Africans have another problem, in that most of our suffixes, such as .co.za, telkomsa, za, are not allowed. Usually your country is required and many of the drop down menus have small, insignificant countries such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mauritius, Ivory Coast listed, but not South Africa. So we have to get ourselves an email address with an overseas company, just to comply. Why?

We, as South Africans, have no shopping carts, or payment processors, suitable for international use, or integration, into overseas websites and the biggest culprit is PayPay. They are the first choice, worldwide and any marketer not offering PayPal, as a means of payment, is seriously disadvantaged. Why then, do they not deal with South Africa? Sure, you can make a purchase through them, but they will not collect monies for you, or allow you to make a withdrawal, if you are South African. Other smaller countries are catered for, but not S.A. There are other options, but none as popular. Most payments, affiliate plans and opportunities, pay through PayPal. I joined dozens of respected affiliate plans and spent a great deal of effort, on advertising, before I found out the truth.

A few months ago, I was experiencing the common problems all new marketers face. I knew what I wanted to do, but not how to actually get it done. I’m talking about the setting up, in order to start business. I needed a domain name, a website, content and products, a hosting service, a shopping cart, a mailing list facility, a form for grabbing visitor’s details, a payment processor, or two, etc etc. You know what I’m talking about. There are so many options available. The web is full of them. Some are free, some cheap, some having special offers, but which was the best for my needs? Nobody tells you that sort of information. How much space do you need for a bookstore, how much bandwidth do you need for customer downloads? How does the speed affect you? I had played around a bit with wysiwyg editors and done a little html coding. I had used a couple of free websites and hey, the last one I built without their website templated builder. I thought I was getting good, but still a little out of my depth. That scared me a bit, so I decided to look for a ready made, turnkey business. They all say the only thing you need to do is to enter your password and account details, then sit back and watch the money roll in. Well I eventually found something that sounded ideal. It was expensive, but I thought I would be saving in the long run. I wanted to sell ebooks, articles, plr, courses and so on. I paid for this business, as I had seen the example and even test drove the shopping cart prior to purchase. Just when I thought I had found a shortcut to starting my business, the problems began. What problems? Read the next article to find out and to see the solution.

Part 6

We were talking about the problems I encountered after I had bought the bookstore. Well firstly, the whole bookstore was inphp with cpanel control panel, my sql and a whole lot of Greek terms. You remember I had worked with online and offline editors in wysiwyg and a little html. Well now I was lost. I was warned not to try to edit in an html editor, or I would corrupt the php. I had never used these before and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t find the pages, to edit them. Then I found that the currencies shown on the products were not compatible with the Rand, but I thought so what, I’ll just sell in dollars. Then I found that PayPal was not an option. Damn, but hey, I could still use NoChex, or the other one, I forget the name. No way, Jose, those weren’t allowed either. I had to have a banking account in USA or UK. I eventually got EGold to work, but how many people pay with gold? That bookstore is still sitting, gathering dust.

There are no local, South African internet companies, for memberships, product sourcing, resources, search engine optimisation etc, so we have to look abroad. Although these are offered reasonably, overseas, we are still subjected to the exchange rate. At present the rate is 7 to the $, 14 to the Pound and around 9 to the Euro, but even so, it is usually cheaper, than our own prices and of course you are spoilt for choice.

Training is another area seriously lacking. With all the conferences, seminars, teleseminars, video training and group discussions unavailable to us in S.A, how are we expected to learn and to keep abreast of developments? Dial up is not powerful enough and anyway it is limited to times between 7pm and 7am, which is a bad time, as even if you stay up all night, it is roughly midnight to midmorning in the States. So how do we learn?

So, with a very limited number of companies prepared to do business with us, with our lack of choice, with our very expensive internet service, with very little access to all the great offers, with our SA email addresses, with our antiquated dial ups, without access to genuine training videos, with the exorbitant exchange rate, with our different spelling, without any reciprocal banks or payment processors, without a compatible shopping cart, with the scams and rip offs and all the rest we have discussed, can South Africans ever hope to get involved in internet marketing?

The truth is rather bleak. Nobody is worried about us, or the problems we have and nobody seems to care. The big guru marketers don’t seem to be able to think outside their statelines and regard us as a waste of time. They are happy to take our money, though. But wait, there does seem to be a solution for you. As I said earlier, I have teamed up with two of the world’s top marketers and together, we are trying to resolve these issues. We will put together a complete, turnkey package deal, a ready to run business, with domain, hosting, website, content, decent affiliate plans, a stream of products, an exclusive membership, a working shopping cart and payment processor, training and ongoing support, a proven plan, optimisation, adsense and other monetised methods for those poor South Africans, who want to be marketers. The hardest part of having your own business, is setting it up and getting it working. You will be able to enter the market place and do very well for yourselves, with our help, so in the meantime, there are a few things you must do.

Make Money Selling Ebooks with CBMall

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

Information is one of the biggest reasons people surf the internet. Finding out how to lose weight, how to meet that special someone, how to work for yourself and fire your boss…the topics go on and on. Amongst the sites that deal with topics like this are an ever-growing collection of eBooks. eBooks are a great item to sell, as there are no printing or shipping costs. All you need is the website from which to sell eBooks.

CBMall takes care of the website for you. All you need to do is promote ebooks that are sold through CBMall, and you receive a commission on all sales through your mall. The CB in CBMall refers to Clickbank, which is one of the largest repositories for eBooks on the internet. CBMall takes the most popular, best selling eBooks from Clickbank and makes them available in an easy to use website that functions like an online shopping center, or e-mall .

I purchased a CBMall back in 2005. With your purchase, you receive your own link that gives you commissions on all sales made from people who click your link. You do not need a website, which greatly reduces the amount of investment you need to make. Your CBMall account gives you access to a knowledge base of how to get started with promoting your CBMall and even offers some words of encouragement from Jeff Mulligan, creator of CBMall.

Jeff has created a great mini course on CBMall and how you can use this to develop your own online business. The course is free to take and it is a great way to check out CBMall without spending any money at all.

I have been impressed with the ease of use of CBMall, and its various features. There aren’t any hidden surprise charges that come up after you buy it. The only other investment you can (and should) make is in promoting your CBMall link, since that is the way you make money through CBMall. The good news is, Jeff offers you a good amount of information on how to market and promote your CBMall. The great news is you are not forced to buy loads of software or sign up for any hosting or long term monthly service agreement.

I’ve promoted my CBMall through some Pay Per Click ads on Google and MIVA, as well as some Ezine ads. I’ve sold several products through CBMall and have built up a considerable amount of subscribers to Jeff’s CBMall mini course. I will be paid commissions if any of the subscribers under my name purchase CBMall. There is some sample promotional copy for CBMall available through the site, just keep in mind you’ll probably want to use your own as a lot of people will probably use the standard stuff.

CBMall gets an A+ with a big gold star. This is a great tool - just remember, you’ll need to spend time and some money to get it to work for you (just like any worthwhile business venture.)

Relational Faith

Computers Loom Large in Preschoolers’ Lives.

This headline caught my attention as I leafed through my Sunday paper this past weekend. While my own computer and I are rather close, spending a pretty hefty portion of our days together, I hadn’t really considered what an impact this staple of everyday life has had on our youngest community members. Apparently there is a considerable impact, a lasting influence we may want to redirect while we still have time.

This particular piece of technology is here to stay for a lot of good reasons. Teaching our children to respect computers as a tool, and educating them on how to work with them in productive ways, is important. But Lowell Manke, an associate professor of education at Whitenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, suggests that, Kids ought to be digging in the ground and playing with dogs and listening to their grandparents tell stories. Computers take that time away from them. Another educator, Lucy Payne, an associate professor of teacher education at the University of St. Thomas, said, I’m afraid if we keep pushing this technology, we’re going to have a whole bunch of people who can do data entry, but nobody who can solve problems. Having managed a retail furniture store for a number of years, and struggled to train and coach many young employees in customer service problem solving, I hear these words of caution loud and clear.

My question is where does this leave us as people of faith? Do we still want to share our faith with our children? Or have we chosen a new god in technology, one to whom we are giving our children in the name of living in the modern world?

From Genesis forward the Bible communicates how God created us for community. The Lord’s Prayer begins with the familiar words, Our Father who art in heaven. Paul’s letters to the early churches talk about early Christians as being brothers and sisters in Christ. Most specifically, we speak of the relationship we each have with God through Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

We also know, sooner than not, that relationships aren’t always easy. Human beings aren’t mass produced off of an assembly line. And while we share many similarities and we are all made up of the same basic components, we are individuals, we are unique and getting along with each other requires our understanding and acceptance of one another’s humanity. If our young people’s life experience is dominated by a point/click, cut/paste mentality, it is no wonder they have trouble making sense of the larger, richer worlds of feelings, communication and respect for personality quirks and differences.

It follows that understanding and living a life based in faith is likely an even more foreign concept. How do we then pass on our faith to this generation?

Basically, we have some things to think about. We carry a legacy of faith, passed down to us in trust, a heritage we want to give over to this next generation. How we do that needs to convey the truth of God’s love and the integrity of the community that embodies that truth. Technology, computers especially, inform our society in ways of which we are not yet fully aware. But what we do know is that digging in the dirt teaches a child about God’s planet, and keeps us grounded as well. Petting and playing with a dog evokes the blessings of joy and compassion in loving all of God’s creatures. Old stories, from those who have them to tell, show us the way on our own journeys to come. We pass on our faith as we live it the way God intended, through relationships with other people. If we lose sight of that, or feel we don’t have time, or think our children can get the same message reading Bible stories online, we are wrong. Reading the story of God’s love and faithfulness off a computer screen is not the same as living that story among God’s people now.

Computers are machines designed to make our lives easier, tools that can be applied in numerous creative and practical ways. People are designed to interact with each other, to nurture each other and simply, to love each other. We are the conduits of community and the most important way to pass on this legacy of faith.

Top Credit Repair Tips

AÄŸustos 9th, 2008 by urjoking

If you’re working hard at your job every day, but still face financial concerns, such as bad credit, then you may be interested in getting a credit repair tip or two. Every day there are thousands of people just like you who are dealing with bad credit problems, so you’re not alone.

There are many different kinds of resources that help you to find out more information and access the credit repair tip you need to make good on your credit. The first place you’d start is doing a basic search on the Internet through Google or Yahoo. Once you do the search, you’ll find thousands of sites that offer all kinds information on how to help solve your credit problems.

The most obvious tip is to make sure that you pay your bills. Of course, that’s easier said than done, but what if you could work out a new payment plan with your creditors? One excellent credit repair tip is to try to figure out a way to work out smaller payments that you can actually afford, even if it is just 5 pounds a month.

Another credit repair tip is to get a copy of your credit report. Lenders look at the length of your established credit. You could hire a company to help and guide you through the steps of repairing it, or you can do it yourself for free. Of course, it may take some time and thought, but in the end you can have peace of mind knowing that you have done your home work and that things are done correctly.

An additional credit repair tip is to look at your credit report and check it for accuracy.

You can get in touch with Experian and get a copy of your credit report for a small fee. Then you want to look over your credit report and analyse the information that is included in it. Check to see if there are any default notices against you. Sometimes you may find that there are companies on your credit report that you’ve never even heard of, and that you have not had any dealings with.

Often, you could be denied credit due to errors and mistakes on the report that are no fault of your own. When you do spot errors, write to the agency and get in touch with whoever put the information on your report. You may even have to write to your lender directly to solve this problem.

If you are having difficulties getting errors fixed on your report, you have a legal right to contact the Data Protection Commissioner.

Next, look at your accounts with different lenders. Note the length of time you have them. Pay the ones that you can. Other lenders look at how long you’ve had an active account. This can work in your favour.

Another credit repair tip is to open a credit account if all of the ones you already have are closed and pay on time. This will help your ratings tremendously. With due diligence and dedication, along with this credit repair tip information, you’ll soon see your credit become good as new.
